About CLBA's Program
Our Mentorship Program is designed to connect LGBTQ+ law students to LGBTQ+ attorneys and legal professionals in order to foster meaningful connections in a safe, professional setting and help participants identify ways to navigate the distinct issues they may face in their legal careers.
Mentor-mentee pairings are year-long (on the school year), so each year you participate, you will be in a new mentor-mentee pairing. Our Mentorship Committee regularly hosts events for all Mentorship Program participants to connect, learn from one another and develop other informal mentor-mentee relationships. Open matching for the Mentorship Program begins each August and runs through mid-September.
Registration for the 2024 - 2025 year of the program is live!
Please register here to participate as a mentor or mentee: CLBA Mentorship Program Sign-Up. Registration closes on September 13, and matches will be sent out on September 21.
The kick-off event for the program is September 25, hosted by Sherman & Howard and Brownstein at their offices. Although attendance is optional, we would love to see program participants there even if your assigned mentor or mentee is unavailable, to create community with the larger program group. Sign-up for the event is here: CLBA Mentorship Program Kick-Off Event
Program accreditation through CAMP
Our Mentorship Program is accredited for CLE credit in Colorado through CAMP (the Colorado Attorney Mentoring Program)! Participating in the CLE accreditation portion of the mentorship program is purely optional. Mentors must adhere to Mentorship Program plan in order to receive CLE credit, which can be found here.
CLBA's mentorship program has been accredited for 6 general and 1 ethics credit. Once the program concludes in May, we will reach out and request you send a copy of the completed program plan to CAMP's offices. CAMP will submit the form to the CLE office on your behalf.
As a reminder, if you have received CAMP mentoring credits in the past as a mentee, you will be unable to claim credits again as a mentee. If you have received CAMP mentoring credits in the past as a mentor, you can receive additional credits so long as you are in a different CLE reporting year from the last period in which you claimed credits.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out!
If you are interested in becoming a mentor or mentee in our Membership Program (or a member of our Mentorship Committee), please contact the Chair of our Mentorship Committee, Kelsey Martin (She, Her, Hers) at kelsey@werge.law
